Junior Driller / Health & Safety Trainee Location: Timmins, Ontario Schedule: Day Shift – Approximately 50 Hours per Week Industry: Mining & Drilling About the Role Our client, a well-established company within the mining and drilling industry, is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Junior Driller / Health & Safety Trainee to join their operations team in Timmins, Ontario. This position is ideal for a candidate with drilling, mining, construction, or heavy industrial experience who is interested in developing a long-term career in both drilling operations and occupational health & safety. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Drillers, Foremen, and Health & Safety professionals while receiving hands-on training and mentorship. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their field experience while developing the skills and knowledge required to grow into a future Health & Safety Coordinator role. Key Responsibilities Drilling Operations Support Assist drilling crews with daily field operations and site activities. Support equipment setup, maintenance, inspections, and housekeeping. Follow all company safety procedures and operational standards. Participate in pre-shift meetings and job hazard assessments. Assist with site logistics, materials handling, and project support activities. Maintain a professional and safety-focused presence on project sites. Travel to project sites as required and support operational activities in the field. Assist Foremen and Supervisors in ensuring safe and efficient drilling operations. Health & Safety Development Conduct field observations and identify potential workplace hazards. Participate in workplace inspections and safety audits. Assist with incident investigations and corrective action follow-up. Support the delivery of toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions. Help maintain safety documentation, records, reports, and compliance files. Promote safe work practices and a positive safety culture among crews. Participate in ongoing health, safety, and environmental training programs. Support compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable legislation. Assist in tracking corrective actions and ensuring follow-up on identified safety concerns. Support environmental and occupational health initiatives as required. Qualifications Previous experience in drilling, mining, construction, exploration, or heavy industrial environments preferred. Experience as a Driller Assistant, Junior Driller, Helper, Labourer, Core Technician, or similar field-based role is considered a strong asset. Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices. Interest in developing a long-term career in Health & Safety. Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather and site conditions. Ability to travel and work at project sites as required. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate leadership potential. Valid Class G Driver's License with a clean driving record preferred. Preferred Qualifications First Aid/CPR Certification. Common Core Modules or equivalent mining certifications. Surface Miner Training. WHMIS Certification. Previous drilling, mineral exploration, or mining experience. Occupational Health & Safety training or certifications. Experience conducting inspections, audits, or safety observations.
