About the role
Position: Food Service Worker Department: Patient Food Services
The Food Service Worker is directly responsible for the provision of nourishments, supplies and meals for inpatients and outpatients. The Food Service Worker is also responsible for cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, dishes and utensils, and their work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Secondary School Graduate or equivalent required
- Food Safety Certification is required
- Completion of Food Service Worker course is an asset
- Excellent working knowledge of Canadian Dietetic Association Clinical Dietetics is required
- Related experience with all aspects of food handling required
- Knowledge of infection control principles is required
Skills/Abilities:
- Must have the ability to participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to function well in a team-oriented climate
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be physically fit as position requires prolonged standing and walking
- Must have ability to push/pull up to 12 Kg.
- Must have ability to lift and handle often-awkward loads that weight up to 15 Kg.
- Must have a grip force of 5 Kg.
- Must have ability to reach from floor to waist and overhead levels
- Must have the ability to apply upper extremity coordination, grasping, one & two handed lifting
- Must have knowledge of proper body mechanics
- Must be available for scheduled shifts and call-ins
- Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
- Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.

About North Bay Regional Health Centre
The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario
NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.
NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.
