About the role
Park Attendant (6 month contract)
The Town of BWG is looking for energetic and highly motivated individuals to join the Parks Division of the Recreation & Cultural Services Department. Reporting to the Supervisor of Parks and Property, these positions will provide support to the parks & property team by assisting with the organization and maintenance of our larger destination parks (Henderson Park/Joe Magani Park) from May to October.
Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for performing general park maintenance tasks within Henderson and Joe Magani Parks during evening/weekend hours with a small student crew.

Ensure permitted user groups at destination park locations are allocated appropriately to their fields/locations.

Respond to inquiries from the public, community groups, sports/user groups, and special event organizers regarding maintenance conditions and resolve complaints and/or refers to appropriate individual(s).

Safe Operation and maintenance of trucks, mowers, groomers, trimmers, backpack blowers to maintain municipal parks and properties.

Responsible for the seasonal maintenance of park buildings/facilities/outdoor pavilion with propane BBQ, including daily cleaning of washrooms, refuse collection and re-stocking of bathroom supplies.

Weeding/watering/mulching of town maintained gardens, planter baskets, trees, shrubs.

Repair and maintain park furnishings and fixtures, including picnic table and park bench repairs, swings, other general carpentry/painting work as required.

Ensure all park areas, facilities, equipment within the division are kept in a clean, safe state free of litter and debris, and report any unsafe conditions.

Layout and management of the sports field lining as required.

Operation and repair of irrigation systems as required.

Assist with general parkland maintenance and/or project work when required.

Work as support staff for Town run special events, assisting in facility set-up for meetings and events as required and performs such other related duties as assigned.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- Must have two 1-2 years of previous parks maintenance experience.
- A high school diploma or recognized equivalent
- Candidates will demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and sound safety practices in community recreational environments.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to foster cooperative working relationships, and to maintain diplomacy and integrity.
- Must be able to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies and the public. -Must be available for evening and weekend shifts (3:00pm-11:30pm) as part of a rotating schedule.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Police Information Check upon hire.
This position offers an hourly rate of $23.19 to $28.50*(April 1, 2026 rates, International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 793).*
