6-month contract (132 busienss days) - possible extension
3 days onsite/2 days remote (subject to change) - 277 Front Street
Must Haves:
- 8+ years of experience in planning and performing quality control and testing activities
- 5+ yrs experience with writing and executing test scripts in a waterfall and agile environment.
- 5+ yrs experience in Functional, Smoke, Regression, UAT, E2E and other cross-team testing.
- 5+ yrs expertise in using JIRA, Zephyr, and confluence or similar.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Completion of a university degree or college diploma, preferably in computer science/engineering, information technology, business administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto's subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario
The Transit Operations Team provides solutions for tracking trains and buses and managing customer information through applications like Trip Manager, TrainTrac, Rail Network, Schedule Manager, Location Manager, Bus Platform Manager. The team also oversees a 3rd party vendor providing managed services for Customer Information Management Systems. These applications provide critical capabilities to Metrolinx Transit Operations and Safety (Oakville Network Operating Centre (NOC), digital signage, online customer channels, bus and rail service planning.
Responsibilities:
- Engages 3rd party vendors in test planning and coordination of end-to-end testing activities
- Works closely with Software Developers and other technical staff to develop test specifications and build test cases to test product functionality, and investigate all potential product test failures. Identifies, logs, retest, and priorities the bugs.
- Reviews new or modified programs, including documentation, diagrams, and flow charts, to determine if the program will perform according to the user request and conform to guidelines
- Evaluates and tests new and modified software programs to verify the program's function according to user requirements and conformance to established guidelines
- Plans, analyses, and defines testing strategies for software and system testing. Keeps the regression suite up to date.
- Acts as a quality assurance resource on project teams, and interacts with stakeholders, Project Managers, Developers, and other technical staff
- Recommends program improvements or corrections to programmers
- Conducts compatibility tests with vendor-provided programs. Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent the recurrence of program operating problems and ensure the efficiency of operation.
- Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to economically and efficiently ensure software quality
- Communicates test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management
- Generates summary and detailed test progress reports
- Able to travel and work from different work locations within GTA depending on the project
Experience/skills required (bolded - required/ Not bolded Nice to Have)
- Completion of a university degree or college diploma, preferably in computer science/engineering, information technology, business administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in planning and performing quality control and testing activities to verify that application and infrastructure components conform to defined requirements, system designs, and quality standards
- Knowledge of Transportation Operations terms and concepts
- Experience in writing Test Plan and Strategy.
- 5+ yrs experience with writing and executing test scripts in a waterfall and agile environment.
- 5+ yrs experience in Functional, Smoke, Regression, UAT, E2E and other cross team testing.
- Experience in data analytics projects with data analysis and data verification
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Proven knowledge in SaaS, COTS application verification
- Experience with tools such as Postman, LoadRunner, SoapUI, Selenium or similar.
- 5+ yrs expertise in using JIRA, Zephyr, and confluence or similar.
- Ability to generate summary and detailed test progress reports and share testing status
- Ability to quickly ramp up an understanding of underlying technologies and infrastructure
- Strong focus on satisfying the needs of the customers
- Strong understanding of Agile and DevSecOps delivery models
- Knowledge of technology infrastructure and related projects i.e. Network setup, WiFi, Data Center, Disaster Recovery, and Monitoring systems.
- Experience in non-functional testing including performance testing, AODA testing, Security Testing, Usability Testing, and PCI compliance testing.
