About the Role
The SEO Content Specialist reports directly to the VP, Digital Marketing and works closely under our SEO Manager and Content Marketing Manager, and alongside our developer partners.
This individual supports SEO and content marketing initiatives across a range of client accounts. The role blends content development, on-page SEO/GEO execution, and performance analysis—requiring someone who is equally comfortable writing, optimizing, and interpreting data.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
This role will support SEO and content marketing projects across tasks, including:
- Generate SEO-optimized meta titles and meta descriptions
- Write and edit SEO-focused website and long-form content
- Optimize alt text and on-page elements for search visibility
- Upload and publish content across CMS platforms (e.g., Craft CMS, Wix, Shopify, WordPress)
- Implement edits, revisions, and feedback efficiently and accurately
- Conduct keyword research, market research, and competitor analysis
- Identify content gaps and opportunities based on search trends
- Create detailed SEO content briefs and optimization recommendations for writers and clients
- Analyze backlink profiles and support outreach initiatives when required to improve off-page SEO performance
- Monitor brand visibility within AI-generated responses and identify optimization opportunities
- Update and optimize existing content to improve rankings and performance
- Collaborate with internal teams on content ideation and development
- Assist in implementing structured data (schema) to improve AI understanding and citation potential
- Ensure all content adheres to brand voice, tone, and style guidelines
- Prepare regular analytics and performance reports using PowerPoint and Google Data Studio
- Identify website issues (e.g., broken links, formatting errors, slow pages)
- Support ongoing SEO initiatives and testing, using insights to inform improvements
- Stay current on evolving SEO/GEO trends, tools, and best practices
Ideal Qualifications
- 2–4+ years’ experience in SEO, content marketing, or digital marketing role (B2B or agency experience an asset)
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail
- Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals including keyword research, on-page optimization, technical basics (meta data, alt text, site structure)
- Ability to balance creative thinking with analytical reasoning
- Experience conducting research and translating insights into content opportunities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Adaptable and open to shifting priorities and new approaches
- Strong collaboration skills and a positive, team-oriented mindset
- Demonstrates curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow
- Strong general tech fluency and ability to quickly learn new tools
Technical Skills & Tools

Experience with:
- Google Analytics
- Google Search Console
- Semrush
- Screaming Frog

Experience using AI tools for content ideation, drafting, or analysis

Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS (intermediate level preferred)

Foundational understanding of structured data (schema) and its role in search visibility

Experience with project management software and other communications platforms like Trello, JIRA, Planner, Teams, and Slack

Experience building reports in Google Data Studio is an asset

Contract Perks
- Annual Salary Range: $60,000 – 70,000
- Vacation: 2 weeks, plus summer agency days (4 days)
- Benefits: yes, after 90 days (50/50 split)
- Location: remote-first, with some in-office (<10 times annually)

Logistics
Our office is located at 14 Birch Avenue, in the Summerhill area of midtown Toronto, but we’ve been working from home/remotely since March 2020. Since it became safe to return to the office, we have implemented a Flexible Work Options Policy that gives our team a desirable balance between primarily working from home with the option for collaborative time in the office.
We host four annual on-site all-staff days each calendar year, but there are also occasions where your presence is needed in-person for client or planning meetings.
