About the role
Position: Seasonal Educator (Part-Time Contract – May 1-September 7, 2026)
Facility: Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada Reports to: Education and Conservation Management Team
Job Purpose: The Educator will be responsible for the facilitation of all guest interactive areas. This includes, but is not limited to, gallery interpretation and facilitation, public talks, school workshops, community outreach events, behind the scenes tours, safe handling of live animals, sleepovers, birthday parties, etc. The Educator will promote and encourage positive attitudes towards aquatic life and the environment in all interactions and will be required to complete other duties as assigned.
Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 days of the year! You will be expected to be regularly available to work any shift during, before or after these hours of operation.
Critical Accountabilities:
- Provide guests with a fun and memorable experience while providing friendly, professional and responsive customer service.
- Ensure a safe, clean, secure environment for guests.
- Present shows, demonstrations, school programs, birthday parties, overnight programs and special events.
- Represent Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada as required at community events.
- Set-up, maintain and cleanup program delivery spaces and supply inventory.
- Ensure that galleries are well maintained and operational and provide feedback on guest interaction.
- Handle and care for live animals as laid out in Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada policies.
- Ensure safe handling of all Aquarium property by guests (including live animals).
Special Skills and Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in biology, environmental science, education or a related field is preferred.
- Valid Lifeguard certification (NLS) an asset
- Excellent communication skills; proven ability to speak and perform before audiences of varying size and composition.
- Proven ability to problem solve.
- Proficiency with MS programs and computers.
All offers are subject to satisfactory completion of a police criminal record background check.
Pay Rate: $19.06/hourly
