Academic Advisor, GT School (Remote) - $75,000/year USD
About the role
You have already tested your limits—whether in athletics, creative performance, or professional leadership. Now you are prepared to channel that high-level achievement into meaningful impact. At GT Anywhere, you will serve as an academic advisor, helping students accomplish what seems impossible: falling in love with learning, accelerating their growth, and becoming self-reliant, confident individuals. You will do all of this remotely, from any location worldwide.
GT Anywhere operates as a virtual school designed for gifted learners eager to move faster. We combine AI-driven academic delivery with personalized, hands-on coaching to provide what conventional education cannot: unlimited learning speed, rigorous engagement across science and the humanities, and a network of like-minded intellectual peers. In your role as an Academic Advisor, you will support students in grades 3 through 8 who are driven to accelerate their learning. You are not responsible for content instruction—our technology manages that. Instead, you serve as the coach who cultivates confidence, sets high expectations, and empowers students to realize their full capabilities. Every coaching session is significant. Every moment of progress matters.
If you have achieved elite-level performance in any arena—sports, performing arts, research, or business—and wish to help young learners pursue the same, this position is designed for you.
What You Will Be Doing
Conducting biweekly one-on-one virtual coaching sessions with each student, centered on goal-setting, motivation, and academic mindset development Hosting open office hours where students can join for immediate support, guidance, or problem-solving assistance Leveraging AI-driven tools and performance dashboards to monitor student advancement, detect obstacles, and refine your coaching techniques Recording observations, concerns, and strategic notes to ensure each student remains on an accelerated growth path Working collaboratively with colleagues to exchange best practices, escalate issues, and continuously refine the coaching framework
What You Won’t Be Doing
Delivering instruction, evaluating assessments, or assigning coursework—technology manages the academic content Presenting lectures or adhering to a predetermined curriculum Overseeing or micromanaging unmotivated students—we coach with purpose, not constant supervision Attending redundant meetings or navigating organizational red tape Settling for mediocrity—this team is designed for individuals committed to high performance and meaningful outcomes
Academic Advisor Key Responsibilities
Generate measurable academic progress and sustained engagement for virtual learners through frequent, high-impact coaching focused on mindset and performance, all within a fully remote, technology-enabled environment.
Basic Requirements
Master's degree in any field
At least 1 year of experience coaching, mentoring, or motivating K–8 students At least 6 months working with gifted students in an educational, coaching, or mentoring setting Proven high performance in any field—academics, athletics, entrepreneurship, or the arts Strong virtual presence and ability to connect with students quickly over Zoom/Google Meet Comfortable using dashboards and tech tools to track and adjust performance Ability to maintain at least 80 percent overlap with US business hours
Nice-to-have Requirements
PhD in any field
Background in performance coaching, sports psychology, or motivational work Experience working with homeschool or alternative education families

𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒆: Crossover jobs are are fully compliant with LinkedIn's policies, as well as the applicable laws in every country where we advertise.
Allow us to clarify some common misconceptions:
1) The reason we post so many job ads is because LinkedIn organizes all job postings by location. So, the only way to reach candidates all over the world is to post multiple ads in every city you want to hire from. Most recruiters don't bother because it's too time consuming... but we're not most recruiters.
2) We mostly recruit independent contractors, not employees, because labor laws vary so much from one country to another that it's near-impossible to recruit globally otherwise (which is why it's still uncommon even though most jobs can now be done remotely).
3) As is standard for any self-employed person, the stated pay is the entire compensation package. Because they are not employees, each contractor is responsible for handling the things that an employer would take care of e.g. taxes, equipment, vacation time, health insurance. One of the major reasons that Crossover jobs pay so much more than local jobs is to overcompensate for these costs.
It's hard, but it's worth it!
