Senior Avionics Engineer
About the role
Senior Avionics Engineer Montreal, QC Hybrid
Technical Skills: Avionics Systems Integration (AFCS, Communication, Navigation, Displays, Recording Systems); Aircraft Certification (FAR Part 25, FAA/EASA/TCCA); Standards: DO-178, DO-160, DO-254, ARP4754, ARP4761; Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA); System Design, Validation & Testing; Supplier Coordination; Airworthiness & Compliance
Experience Range: 8-15+ years of experience in Avionics / Aircraft Systems Must Have:
- Strong experience in Avionics Systems Integration (Communication, Navigation, AFCS, Displays)
- Knowledge of Aircraft Certification & Airworthiness (FAR Part 25, FAA/EASA/TCCA)
- Expertise in Avionics Standards (DO-178, DO-160, DO-254, ARP4754/ARP4761)
- Hands-on experience in System Design, Verification & Validation
- Strong ability in cross-functional/supplier coordination
Good to Have:
- Experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA)
- Exposure to DAD/DAR certification (Transport Canada delegation)
- Familiarity with Flight Data/Recording Systems (CVR, FDR, AHMS)
- Experience supporting Final Assembly Line / In-service aircraft issues
- Tools/process improvement or engineering process development experience
Roles and responsibilities:
- Lead and support the integration of avionics systems (communication, navigation, flight control, display, and recording systems) on aircraft platforms.
- Define, manage, and validate system and subsystem requirements to ensure compliance with safety, certification, and design objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure seamless system integration and alignment with program requirements.
- Participate in and support certification activities, including tests, inspections, and audits in line with regulatory standards (FAA, EASA, TCCA).
- Review and approve compliance documentation and certification reports as per approved certification plans.
- Ensure continued airworthiness of avionics systems by adhering to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and guidance materials.
- Contribute to the development and approval of Certification Plans, Means of Compliance, and Level of Involvement (LOI) with regulatory authorities.
- Provide support to final assembly lines and in-service aircraft, resolving design and integration issues effectively.
- Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives, including development of tools, processes, and methodologies within the engineering function
