The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Community, Inclusion, and Belonging (CIB), the CIB Learning Specialist is responsible for collaborating with faculty and school leaders on designing and delivering CIB curriculum to students, faculty, and staff on the integration of CIB within subject areas and the broader school environment - inclusive of the Junior, Middle and Senior School. The role involves identifying areas for improvement and working collaboratively with various departments across the school community to integrate CIB principles with intentionality. The Learning Specialist ensures that the school's CIB learning initiatives systematically integrate the CIB components of the school's curriculum outcomes and the IB Learner Profile while applying the concepts of culturally relevant pedagogical practices.
A key objective of this position is to foster an inclusive learning and working environment where all individuals feel valued and respected. Additionally, this role involves a deep awareness of current CIB trends and emergent practices in K–12 education to continually refine and update learning materials.
The purpose of this position is to empower all members of the school community, leading to a more inclusive learning environment that fosters belonging. The CIB Learning Specialist plays a pivotal role in advancing the school's commitment to CIB.
Key Accountabilities

Curricular Innovation: Collaborate across academic teams to enhance and integrate an inclusive K–12 curricula. Ensure that CIB principles and civil discourse frameworks are further embedded across the curriculum.

CIB Advisory & Mentorship: Serve as a classroom-facing resource, collaborating with teachers to navigate complex global topics and student-led civic action with intellectual integrity.

Professional Learning & Development (L&D): Co-design and facilitate a high-impact, continuous learning journey for our 230+ staff members. This includes evidence-based learning and development on intersectional CIB relevant issues.

Advance CIB Strategies: Act key collaborator on school's CIB strategic goals such as civil discourse initiatives, equipping teachers with the tools to facilitate courageous conversations and helping students to navigate through disagreement with courage, clarity and respect.

Empowering Student Leadership: Collaborate across the Branksome community to evolve student leadership initiatives from social spaces to hubs of intellectual leadership and advocacy.

Strategic Storytelling: Work across the Junior, Middle and Senior school teams to integrate communications on the CIB journey to the broader community, ensuring our commitment to inclusive excellence is visible and transparent.
Candidate Profile
-
Graduate degree, or equivalent, in Education, Social Sciences, Equity Studies, or a related field is required or 5 years of related work experience in an educational environment

Ongoing professional learning in areas such as inclusive curriculum design and pedagogical frameworks, anti-racism, reconciliation, and inclusive education is strongly preferred

5 years experience developing, coordinating, or implementing community, inclusion, and belonging (CIB) initiatives within an educational or organizational setting
-
Proven ability to design and facilitate CIB learning and development initiatives, including workshops, discussions, or professional learning on topics related to CIB and social justice
-
Experience in cross-functional collaboration, and strong project management skills with planning events, creating inclusive resources, and supporting strategic or data-informed decision-making processes

Demonstrated ability to apply anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and reconciliation-informed frameworks to programs and policies
-
Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive topics or confidential information, and capacity to work with empathy and cultural humanity

Strong problem-solving and adaptive thinking skills, with a proactive approach to emerging CIB opportunities.

Demonstrated leadership presence with the ability to inspire, engage, and mobilize others toward shared inclusion goals.

Familiarity with anti-racism or equity-focused office support is an asset.
-
Past experience supporting identity and culture-based affinity programs in work or school settings is an asset.

Target Hiring Range: $73,733.40 - $92,139.84
