This role sits within a dynamic in-house legal team supporting a fast-growing international organization in the digital health space. The Legal Counsel will play a key role in enabling innovative healthcare solutions that improve access to care and patient outcomes at scale. You will work across multiple business units, providing practical and solution-oriented legal advice in a highly collaborative environment. The position involves exposure to a broad range of legal domains, including privacy, healthcare regulation, commercial contracting, and corporate matters. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders such as product, procurement, compliance, and operations teams. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to impactful initiatives within a complex, global structure while developing broad in-house expertise.
Accountabilities
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, SaaS arrangements, and data protection and privacy agreements. Provide day-to-day legal guidance on matters including privacy and data protection, healthcare and regulatory compliance, intellectual property, IT/AI, procurement, marketing, and employment-related issues. Respond to client due diligence requests, questionnaires, and requests for proposals or information. Support the implementation and improvement of legal, compliance, governance, ethics, and enterprise risk management programs. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure legally sound and business-aligned solutions across projects and initiatives.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a Canadian law society. 2-5 years of post-call experience, ideally with exposure to commercial law, privacy, or healthcare-related matters. Proven experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements in a business-facing legal role. Strong knowledge or interest in privacy/data protection, healthcare regulation, or technology-related legal issues is an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingualism in French and English is required. Strong business judgment, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment. Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
