About The Role
What if your engineering knowledge could help shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need real engineers to make it happen.
As a Mechanical Engineering Expert, you'll stress-test advanced AI systems by designing complex problems, authoring authoritative solutions, and auditing AI reasoning across fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and more. Your expertise will directly influence how AI thinks about the physical world.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced mechanical engineering problems across FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to push AI to its limits Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation Audit Technical Reasoning — Review AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) Refine AI Thinking — Identify logical errors in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
Holds or is pursuing a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field Strong foundational knowledge in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes Able to communicate complex technical concepts and physical phenomena clearly in written form High attention to detail when checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints No prior AI experience required — your engineering knowledge is what matters
Nice to Have
Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows Proficiency with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation processes
Why Join Us
Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside world-class research teams Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, on your own terms Freelance autonomy with the substance of meaningful, high-impact technical work Gain rare insight into how large language models are trained and evaluated Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
