Role Description The Military to Civilian Tech Retooling/Transition Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. This role helps individuals with military experience transition into civilian technology positions by assessing technical and operational skills, mapping them to relevant industry roles, and designing tailored upskilling plans. Day-to-day work includes conducting one-on-one consultations, developing training roadmaps focused on modern infrastructure, cloud, AI, and robotics domains, and coordinating with internal technical teams to align learning content with current company projects. The specialist will organize workshops, maintain progress tracking for participants, provide interview and resume guidance, and build partnerships with hiring managers to ensure successful placement into tech roles. The position involves continuous improvement of transition frameworks based on feedback, evolving industry trends, and emerging technologies used at Dont-tell Inc.
Qualifications
Experience working with or within military organizations, with the ability to translate military technical and operational skills into civilian technology career paths. Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, including on-prem solutions, CPU/GPU hybrid architectures, and basic x86 networking concepts. Knowledge of cloud computing fundamentals and familiarity with PaaS/IaaS optimization, cloud scaling practices, or AI infrastructure and operations. Background in technology education, workforce development, career coaching, or training program design for technical roles. Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, including experience conducting one-on-one coaching and group workshops. Ability to collaborate with engineering, HR, and leadership teams to align transition programs with organizational needs. Demonstrated capability in project coordination, documentation, and tracking participant progress using digital tools. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Engineering, Education, Human Resources) or equivalent practical experience. Understanding of or interest in AI, robotics, or advanced edge device technologies is an asset. Eligibility to work on-site in the Greater Toronto Area and willingness to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in career counseling.
