Title: Business Analyst - Portfolio Management

Type: 6-month contract + opportunity to extend

Work Model: Hybrid (4 day on-site/Week)

Pay Rate - $90-105/hr

Interview Process

Modernizing the Portfolio Management System (PMS) and decomposing a legacy monolithic application into microservices.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

The Technical BA will support the modernization of the portfolio management platform by analyzing investment workflows, documenting system requirements, and partnering closely with engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze the existing monolithic PMS and assist in breaking it into microservices

• Map portfolio management workflows into clear technical and functional requirements

• Document system flows, processes, functional specs, and acceptance criteria

• Validate investment workflows, including rebalancing, corporate actions, and trade lifecycle

• Ensure developers have accurate, actionable requirements for feature development

• Work with the lead BA to align requirements across related applications

• Eventually collaborate with portfolio managers, operations, or stakeholders as the role evolves

• Support future enhancements and system stability as microservices mature

Must-Haves

Portfolio Management Domain Expertise

• Strong understanding of portfolio management workflows, including:

• Rebalancing

• Corporate actions

• Daily portfolio operations

• Trade workflows

• Experience with Charles River (CRD) or similar OMS/PMS tools

• Exposure is acceptable; deep CRD technical mastery not required

• Candidates who have helped build or support an in-house PMS are ideal

Technical/BA Skills

• Ability to work closely with developers and understand technical concepts

• Experience writing:

• Functional requirements

• User stories

• Process flows

• Acceptance criteria

• Ability to interpret workflows without constantly relying on PMs to define what’s already built

• Experience supporting large-scale system changes or modernizations (preferred)

Nice-to-Haves

• Technical background (APIs, system design basics, data flow understanding)

• Experience working in a microservices environment

• Experience with capital markets systems beyond PMS (OMS, risk, trading platforms)

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and documentation skills

• Clear, concise communicator

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and BAs

• Comfortable working with limited stakeholder interaction initially

• Adaptable as responsibilities expand into business-facing support
