Personal Trust Services VP
The Personal Trust Services VP will service Fiduciary Trust's assets under administration (AUA) by providing professional Estate Planning, Executor, and Trustee services to high-net-worth clients. The role provides expertise on all aspects of estate and trust management and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively as a member of the client relationship team.
Responsibilities:
Relationship and Account Management:
- Provide a best-in-class personalized client experience by always acting in the best interests of the client and their family in all aspects of fiduciary and agent account management. This will include delivery and oversight of all aspects of the professional administration of complex estates, trust and power of attorney accounts, such as managing assets, coordinating with beneficiaries and stakeholders, handling any legal or financial complexities and possibly managing relationships with external professionals/professional service providers such as lawyers, accountants, property management firms, appraisers etc. to ensure professional services are efficiently provided to accounts and agreements/service levels are met as per requirements.
- Collaborate with clients and their legal representatives to develop tailored estate plans that align with their financial goals and objectives. This includes analyzing assets, preparing wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develop rapport and instill confidence with the client to develop credibility and earn trust.
- May provide administrative support to financial advisors that may include financial reports, account reconciliation, trade activity, or fee collection. Will ensure proper documentation and administrative decisions on each account.
Business Development:
- Build strategic relationships with COI’s including lawyers, accountants, and financial advisors with the goal of strengthening relationships and collaboration with Fiduciary Trust to grow the Trust’s business. Work closely with financial advisors to assist them in retaining or growing assets under their management through the transfer of wealth from one generation to the next.
- Develop acquisition strategies and maintain a strong pipeline of referrals that will create sustainable and profitable growth.
- Oversee content and marketing materials for new business. Create and deliver sales and marketing presentations.
- Be a valued partner and primary resource on estate planning, executor and trustee services to the sales force and in servicing complex high net worth relationships.
Risk Management:
- Limit firm risk exposure by leading/collaborating with Compliance, Operations, Legal and others in the management of governance meetings and ensuring the maintenance of governing body mandates, oversight and approval guidelines to resolve administrative, risk management and legal issues of accounts.
- Participate in the review and discussion of discretionary decisions on behalf of Fiduciary Trust and properly exercise the discretion provided in the will, trust agreement or power of attorney documents.
Leadership:
- Help shape future strategy for business growth, including the evaluation of various delivery strategies and account management options to expand the Trust business through direct markets and referral partnerships.
- Break down strategic problems, analyze data and information to provide recommendations.
- Take a continuous improvement approach to identify problems or efficiency issues and propose solutions.
- Monitor and track performance, including the production of regular reports and dashboards.
- Participate in the communication and change management strategy to ensure consistency of messaging and positively influence or change behaviours.
- May have some direct people management responsibilities, overseeing and supervising workflow and activities. Provide technical assistance, coaching, and mentoring to support the development of the employees and create a positive, work environment by modeling company values.
Qualifications:
- 7 + years of experience in Estate and Trust administration
- Estate and Trust credentials (e.g. trust company training program, MTCI, TEP, CA or LLB)
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong background in estate planning and estate and trust administration, either through legal practice or as a senior trust officer or estate planner in the trust industry
- Solid understanding of modern portfolio theory and investment management disciplines
- Solid understanding of trust accounting principles and practices
- Solid understanding of personal and estate and trust taxation principles

We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $175,000 - $200,000 CAD, depending on location and level of relevant experience, plus discretionary bonus.
