Invitation to the celebration of 170 years since the birth of Nikola Tesla
About the role
The Institute for Cosmology and Philosophy of Nature invites you to celebrate 170 years since the birth of Nikola Tesla with cakes and drinks, a demonstration of a Tesla coil, and a commemorative lecture by Dr. rer. nat. Petar Pavlović, Tesla's significance for the future of science and technology.
Nikola Tesla, born on July 10, 1856, is today approached almost exclusively historically—highlighting his influence on the science and technology of the last century, his unusual personality, and all of this is then occasionally commercialized by turning Tesla into a kind of tourist brand. This, however, systematically avoids the most important question: is there a specific Tesla legacy in the study of nature that is still relevant today? In what concrete way is Tesla important for the future, and not just for the past? We will discuss how there are at least several related research activities for the future that represent a continuation of Tesla's work:
i) phenomena in strong electric fields, ii) wireless transmission of electrical energy and social regulation of energy, iii) research into the methodology of Tesla's work and his approach to natural phenomena, iv) systematic historical-reconstruction work on Tesla's inventions and conceptual proposals, their further development and consideration of possible technical use, v) education and training in physics and electrical engineering starting from practical work on Tesla's inventions.
The celebration begins on July 10, 2026 at 7 PM at the Cosmology Center premises, Trg svetog Florijana 16, Križevci.
The event is organized as part of the project “Development of Natural Sciences in Križevci 2026” co-financed by the City of Križevci and the Koprivnica-Križevci County.

About Institute for Cosmology and Philosophy of Nature
The Institute of Cosmology and Philosophy of Nature is a professional community of scientists and researchers focused on the fundamental issues of material reality and the Universe as a whole. The fundamental goal of the Institute is to work on creating conditions for free, critical and thoughtful – natural-scientific and philosophical – examination of Nature, which would be free from any form of dogmatism, mechanical adherence to dominant trends and the influence of market pressures expressed either through imposing research topics on utilitarian grounds or through substituting the hyper-production of trivialities for systematic and high-quality scientific work. The Institute is dedicated to promoting fundamental research in theoretical physics and achieving a synthesis between theoretical physics and philosophy, as well as connecting other disciplines related to the understanding of Nature and humanity's relationship to it.
