Effective Date: July 6, 2026, to July 31, 2026, 8:15 – 12:45 (Instructional time is 8:30 – 12:30)
Please Note: Summer school programs are contingent upon student enrolment. If, on or around June 26, 2026, there are insufficient class numbers for this assignment the course will be cancelled, and the teaching contract will be rescinded. Teachers will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement (Article B.29). By accepting this assignment, teachers do not receive experience or earn seniority or aggregate months of service towards conversions to a continuing contract (B status).
Deadline for Applications: May 25, 2026 – 12:00 p.m.
Electronic Applications must be submitted through Make A Future __www.makeafuture.ca and include a Cover Letter, Resume, Teaching Report, Transcripts & the names of two (2) supervisors who can comment on your teaching.
**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience: **
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- successful experience in teaching prior Summer Learning courses
- extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching Social Studies at the Grade 10-12 level
- demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students experiencing difficulties with learning Social Studies key concepts
- demonstrated ability to recognize individual students' differences and effectively differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the learning needs of all students in a diverse classroom demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies in the classroom to engage all students
- understanding of and the ability to implement the Big Ideas based upon the Core Competencies for the assigned area
- demonstrated ability to adapt or modify curriculum for students who are experiencing difficulties
- provide regular reporting on student progress and demonstrate proven ability in involving parents as partners
- ability to work as part of a team
- demonstrated strong classroom management skills
- willingness to take a leadership role in the development of this program
