Position Overview:
The Associate Faculty (AF) position is a full-time role that provides coverage as needed for various classes. As an AF member, you will work directly with students and are responsible for facilitating lesson plans as needed. Additional responsibilities include engagement in the Advisory Program, and other supervisory duties, such as proctoring exams. This is an ideal opportunity for a recently graduated B.Ed., who is seeking to gain classroom teaching experience; or for someone with one to three years’ of teaching experience.
At this time, priority will be given to teachers who are BC Certified or have the ability to gain BC Certification to teach at least one of English, Social Studies, Chemistry, or Physics.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding academic credentials and demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life, including co-curricular responsibilities for two of the three terms each school year. Of particular note, the expertise to coach Rugby, or contribute to the Robotics or Model United Nations programs is beneficial; however, the capacity to substantially engage in any of the School’s co-curricular activities will be deemed an asset.
Associate Faculty are placed on St. George’s teaching grid and are eligible for benefit enrollment. For candidates who are relocating from another province, we provide a small relocation allowance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provides both TOC coverage and when necessary longer-term coverage when faculty members are away for a leave of absence.
- Often Associate Faculty will have one class throughout the entire school year to support their continued growth and development as an educator.
- Facilitate student learning individually and in small groups.
- Work with teachers to create a positive school environment that will emphasize a student-centered, caring atmosphere.
- Create an environment that supports bringing a diversity of voices and worldviews to classroom material and learning experiences, including Indigenous, local, and global perspectives.
- Accompany students on field trips and excursions during class time if required.
- Liaise with teachers to address student social and emotional needs, including those related to break, lunch, health, clothing, and general well-being.
- Supervising duties as required, including placement on a duty rotation for lunch.
- Participating in student activities during non-instructional time. Expected to be involved in extracurricular activities in two of the three school terms.
Qualifications:
- BC Certified teacher or the ability to become certified to teach in British Columbia by the time the 2026/27 school year begins.
- Completion of a B.Ed. program, with superior practicum reports.
- Experience teaching is considered an asset.
- Ability to build strong rapport with students and foster an open and positive classroom environment.
- Strongly committed to student learning and success; being able to understand the needs of students while engaging them as active learners in the classroom.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to deal with all of the key stakeholders in the school environment (i.e. students, teachers, parents).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis on collaborative planning and assessment.
- Experience in a residential type setting with young students is considered an asset.
- Superior EQ skills in self-awareness, self-management, social agility, impact and influence.
