Position Summary This position is responsible for teaching students in an assigned field of study using a diverse set of instruction methods and tools. The position develops curriculum, prepares teaching materials, provides assessments of students’ progress. It ensures the proper stewardship of college facilities, equipment and other inventories. The position is also responsible for upholding the College’s policies and procedures and for participating in meetings and events and on committees.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaches students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, shop sessions, seminars, case studies, field assignments and independent or group projects.
- Develops curriculum and prepares teaching materials and outlines for courses including audio visual and web-related materials where appropriate.
- Prepares, administers and marks papers, tests, exams and other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress. Provides detailed feedback on student performance.
- Assists and provides support to students and potential students by advising on program curricula and career decisions.
- Provides individualized or group tutorial or remedial instruction to students who require it.
- Maintains effective stewardship of classroom facilities, equipment, materials, software and tools.
- Arranges for and supervises independent or group projects, field placements, laboratory work or hands-on training.
- Adheres to VCC policies and procedures including being available to students and maintaining confidentiality of student information.
- Participates in departmental and college meetings and events. Consults with other College departments and may serve on committees concerning matters such as budgets, curriculum revision, and course and certificate or diploma requirements.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Certificate, diploma or degree in building technology from a recognized post-secondary institute.
Professional experience in digital game development, XR production and Realtime 3D pipeline or related digital production.
- The ability to teach the following simulation development-related courses: VESD 2200: Extended Reality (XR) Content Production, VESD 2205: Extended Reality (XR) Environment Production, VESD 1110: Graphic Editing for Simulation.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: 3D Game Development Environment for XR (Ex. Unity 3D, Unreal Engine), Graphics Software (Ex. Photoshop, Illustrator, GIMP, Piskel, Marmoset Hexels, etc.), Texture Painting Software (Ex. Substance Painter, 3D Coat, ZBrush).
- Completion of the Provincial Instructor’s Diploma (PID) (preferred).
- Successful post-secondary teaching experience (preferred).
- Demonstrated instructional ability.
- Portfolio highlighting skills and experience.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $70.44-$112.87 per hour
Work Location: In person
