About the role
<p>The Project Accountant supports various teams in delivering new build construction, renovations, and special financial and automation projects by leading internal and external accounting initiatives. This role partners closely with corporate and operations stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure financial accuracy and alignment. </p><p>Key responsibilities include establishing and managing budgets, reconciliations, driving initiatives in automation and efficiencies, and performance reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong project and overall accounting expertise, advanced Excel skills, and a sharp attention to detail, enabling them to provide timely financial and operational insights that drive successful project outcomes that further economies of scale. This is an in-office role based in Vancouver, BC.</p><p></p><p><strong>Annual Compensation Range </strong></p><p>$70,000 ? $90,000 / year <br>The salary range is dependent on skill and work experience. </p><p></p><p><strong>Responsibilities </strong></p><ul><li>Manage purchase orders, change orders, invoices, and prime contracts for new builds, conversions, and renovations.</li><li>Manage various projects in the areas of automation, financial planning, and process improvements. </li><li>Prepare and maintain weekly project performance reports for key stakeholders. </li><li>Identify and communicate billing discrepancies and scheduling delays to Construction Project Managers. </li><li>Serve as primary liaison in the Finance department to align on project financials and cash flow forecasting. </li><li>Participate in weekly project meetings, providing updates on project performance controls as required. </li></ul><p><br><strong>Requirements </strong></p><ul><li>Post-secondary education with 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or accounting related field. </li><li>CPA designation preferred although consideration will also be made for those currently enrolled and attending the CPA program. </li><li>Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to navigate communication challenges. </li><li>Proactive and action-oriented, demonstrating initiative and ownership in previous roles. </li><li>Ability to perform and adapt in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. </li><li>Skilled in summarizing and presenting data concisely for executive-level reporting and presentations. </li><li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. </li><li>Familiarity with construction contracts, change order documentation, and construction accounting practices is considered an asset. </li><li>Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset. </li><li>Knowledge of restaurant operations is considered an asset. </li></ul><p><br><strong>Benefits</strong> </p><ul><li>Extended health, dental, life insurance, long-term disability, and AD&D </li><li>Ongoing Leadership Development Courses </li><li>Enjoy 50% off food & beverage at any JOEY Restaurants, LOCAL Public Eatery, SALTLIK or Earls Restaurants location (some restrictions apply) </li><li>Pursue personal and professional development through a Coaching Partnership.
