West Bay IB World School
Effective late April 30 OR earlier until June 30th, 2026
A full-time teaching position is available at West Bay IB World School teaching Grade Five. This position is for parental leave and is likely to start in late April.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant for this position must:
- have a clear understanding of the characteristics of the intermediate student and the ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of this age group;
- be willing to collaboratively plan units of inquiry to be taught through a guided inquiry approach;
- have demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan an intermediate program;
- possess strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;
- possess familiarity with a Universal Design for Learning approach and a deep commitment to providing the supports and encouragement for all students to be successful;
- knowledge and experience in adapting learning objectives and strategies to meet the needs of English Language Learners at varying levels;
- experience and a clear understanding of social and emotional learning and self-regulation;
- knowledge and proven experience in the area of technology including the ability to integrate various technologies into the curriculum, modes of assessment, and adapting curriculum;
- the ability to use formative assessment practices to improve student achievement with emphasis on the BC Curriculum and web-based platforms;
- effective classroom management skills that are student-centered and focus on relationships and authentic connections;
- a strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders;
- be familiar with, and have an interest in, supporting the goals outlined in the West Vancouver Indigenous Enhancement Agreement.
