PRIMARY TEACHER
Part-time (0.4 FTE) temporary position
Chartwell Elementary School
Effective Immediately until the return of the absent teacher
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
This position replaces a teacher on a leave of absence. The successful applicant for this position must demonstrate the following:
- A clear understanding of the characteristics of primary students and the ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical, social and emotional needs of this age group
- Demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan an inclusive primary program, with a focus and commitment to the BC curriculum and literacy.
- Current knowledge and recent successful experience and training at the primary level;
- Willingness to teach in a non-traditional learning space
- Commitment to a collaborative model of teaching
- Knowledge and experience in working with students with diverse needs and support staff with a focus on differentiated instruction in the classroom and demonstrated ability to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners through a broad array of teaching strategies and differentiated instruction;
- Knowledge and experience in adapting learning objectives and strategies to meet the needs of English Language Learners at varying levels
- Experience and broad knowledge of teaching and planning using inquiry-based, project based, and other student-centered approaches
- Experience and a clear understanding of social and emotional learning and self-regulation
- Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability, commitment and drive to work co-operatively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;
- A strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders
