JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Program Manager, or designate, the Unit Aide contributes to the overall efficiency of the unit by performing specific tasks designed to create and maintain an effective and safe environment. Duties and responsibilities include: assisting in the maintenance of proper functioning of equipment (including regular cleaning as required), regular cleaning of areas, stocking of supplies, preparing special trays, ensuring treatment or procedure rooms are cleaned and restocked appropriately, taking specimens to the laboratory areas as required, and other related duties as assigned. The Unit Aide complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CSR Techniques certificate - preferred;
- Previous Unit Aide experience - asset;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to perform duties as assigned;
- Flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the patient and care team, as directed by the Program Manager or designate;
- Demonstrates mature, professional and responsible attitude
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics and ability to work safely in accordance with all aspects of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position
EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE:
Grade XII, or GED Certificate
