Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Investigations and Compliance Lead, the Enterprise Safety Advisor's core responsibilities will be to assist
and lead incident investigations. Further responsibilities include developing, delivering, and strategically implementing corporate
programs, policies, and procedures to minimize risks and hazards to all employees, the public, corporate property, and the
environment. Develop project plans, including communication and implementation strategies, milestones, and management system
indicators/measures, for the strategic development of corporate safety initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise and support to each Enterprise/Operating Group in investigations and cause analysis across business-unit
teams/committees, as required.
- Maintain expert knowledge of legislation with respect to incident investigation and root cause, as well as Occupational Safety
and Health compliance, to interpret and provide advice regarding legislated requirements to Field Safety Advisors, Workplace
Safety and Health Committees, Management and employees.
- Provide technical expertise and advice to Enterprise and Field Safety Advisors, Workplace Safety and Health Committees,
Management and employees to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities, including incident investigations,
assessments, inspections and investigation of Occupational Safety issues.
- Assist with the development of Occupational Safety & Health policies, procedures, and rules with input from Field Safety
Advisors, Workplace Safety and Health Committees, management, and employees.
- Provide expertise by participating in or leading multi-disciplinary and cross-business unit teams/committees as required.
- Maintain expert knowledge of legislation and technical expertise with respect to Occupational Safety and Health to interpret
and provide advice regarding legislated requirements to Field Safety Advisors, Workplace Safety and Health Committees,
Management and employees.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of new and existing workplace safety programs. Subject matter contact for
elements within the Safety Management System.
- Develop and maintain safety policies, rules, standards, and programs in accordance with changing provincial and federal
regulations and standards.
- Prepare administrative and procedural directives related to workplace safety issues.
- Lead high-risk and serious incident investigations using established investigative techniques and processes.
- Assist and coach Field Safety Advisors as well as others through medium-risk and serious incident investigations, which
include liaising with the workgroup, analyzing the incident, conducting interviews, and recommending any corrective
measures.
- Identify, develop, revise, and lead the implementation of programs to enhance the Occupational Safety and Health System.
- Communicate with and work with external agencies on current Occupational Safety and Health issues, developments, and
best practices. Act as a liaison with regulatory authorities, other utilities, and professional organizations such as CEA, CGA,
CSA and the Bargaining Units.
- Provide Occupational Safety and Health training to Field Safety Advisors, Workplace Safety & Health Committees, managers,
and employees.

- Provide corporate-wide communication of Occupational Safety and Health information.
- Conduct analysis and research, develop reports, and prepare briefing notes and recommendations for the Manager's review
regarding complex safety issues.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 education plus a Manitoba Hydro Trades Certificate or equivalent, as determined by Manitoba Hydro, with
seven years (of which two years must be related to safety) and a Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety;
OR
- An equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Standing as a CRSP by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals would be an asset.
- Must have a working knowledge of provincial and federal legislation, codes of practice and guidelines relating to Occupational
Safety & Health.
- Demonstrated abilities in collecting and analyzing data in order to prepare clear and concise technical reports, including
strategic recommendations for safety improvements.
- Demonstrated abilities in preparing, delivering, and facilitating effective presentations, workshops, and seminars.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and initiative to effect improvements in corporate programs for protecting the occupational health
and safety of employees, the public and the environment.
- Possess well-developed computer skills, with working knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint.
- Thorough knowledge of corporate policies, procedures, standards and Corporate Employee Safety and Health rules.
- Prepared to travel extensively and possess a valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Required to travel by all modes of transportation i.e. air, land and water.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $43.35-$59.82 Hourly,
$83,070.78-$114,625.68 Annually.
