About the role
Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.
Position Overview:
The University of Winnipeg Personality Laboratory is hiring a research assistant to contribute to our research on the psychology of everyday sadism. This position is an excellent opportunity for an Honours Psychology student at the University of Winnipeg
Duties:
- Assist with data collection, entry, analysis, and interpretation.
- Help draft documents to disseminate research findings.
- Code qualitative data.
- Schedule participant visits and track participation numbers.
- Perform routine clerical and administrative duties to support research activities.
- Type letters and other documents, proofread documents, photocopy references, organize files and keep lab records, and prepare meeting notes, among other duties.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in BA (Hons) Psychology program at the University of Winnipeg. Near graduation is preferred.
- Completion of PSYC-2300 Personality Psychology with a final grade of A+.
- Experience coding qualitative data.
- Software: Microsoft suite of programs, SPSS, R, Sona.
- Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Respect and appreciation for diversity.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The period of work will be from May 11, 2026 - August 31, 2026 and the estimated total hours of work will be 0-50 hours.
