About the role
As a Blaster, you will be responsible for cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting by removing unwanted materials from metal parts, castings and other metal products to prepare them for paint using an abrasive blasting process. This process is an integral part of the finishing process, ensuring our products stand up to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. To excel in this role, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently will be crucial in ensuring the quality of finished products.
Job Duties
- Read and interpret work orders, following the production schedule to ensure parts are prepared for paint in the order in which they are needed
- Operate a grit blasting machine to clean and prepare surfaces for painting
- Inspect surfaces to identify areas that require additional cleaning or preparation
- Work safely and efficiently to ensure time management tasks are completed properly
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Operate lifting devices such as cranes (overhead and/or jib) to complete large welding jobs
Skills and Experience
- Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Demonstrate a keen level of attention to detail and conscientiousness to work independently with minimal supervision
- Blasting tasks require collaboration with team members; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects involving multiple team members
- Physical requirements include standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, and pinching
- Heavy lifting may be required (up to 50lbs)
