About the role
BC Hydro Chief Enterprise Architect
BC Hydro is a Provincial Crown Corporation, owned by the government and people of British Columbia. Appreciating that clean, abundant electricity is key to BC’s economic prosperity and quality of life, its job is to safely provide its customers with reliable, affordable, and clean electricity throughout the province.
The organization is one of the largest energy suppliers in Canada, generating and delivering electricity to 95% of the population of BC and serving over four million people. It acts with integrity in all of its business relationships, through its continuing evolution in response to changes in climate, consumer demand, technology and BC’s commitment to Indigenous Nations.
The Chief Enterprise Architect (CEA) provides strategic and operational leadership for BC Hydro’s enterprise architecture program, ensuring technology decisions align with business goals and support the organization’s long-term vision. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and as part of the senior technology leadership team, the CEA guides the development of architecture strategies, roadmaps, and standards that enable innovation, resilience, and growth.
Working closely with business leaders, project teams, and executives, the CEA ensures technology investments maximize value, reduce risk, and address technical debt. They act as the design authority for enterprise technology initiatives, delivering sustainable, future-ready solutions that support both day-to-day operations and long-term priorities. Leading a team of enterprise architects, the CEA fosters collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, driving rationalization, modernization, and cloud adoption across a large and complex application portfolio.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, forward-thinking technology leader who combines deep architectural expertise with a pragmatic approach to execution. With experience in large, matrixed organizations, they balance strategic vision with operational realities and bring a proven ability to lead application rationalization, cloud transformation, and digital modernization initiatives. They stay ahead of emerging technologies, introducing innovation in ways that are responsible, sustainable, and aligned with BC Hydro’s mission.
An effective communicator and influencer, the successful candidate builds trust and credibility at all levels, engaging business and technology leaders to ensure alignment and fostering a sense of shared purpose across the organization.
The targeted salary range for this position is $155,010 – $195,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
