About the role
The team at Dentons Vancouver is seeking a mid-level commercial litigator to join our Litigation and Disputes Resolution (LDR) team.
Dentons’ LDR group services all manner of corporate, commercial and regulatory disputes and is led by some of the most well-respected practitioners in the country. Our leadership team is an energetic and engaged group of partners seeking a confident mid-level associate to play a key role in the group’s commercial disputes practice.
The Opportunity
As a member of the LDR group, you will have the opportunity to work on matters spanning the life-cycle of litigation: dispute-oriented advice on live commercial matters, negotiations, mediations, trial work, and arbitration.
Clients rely on Dentons’ LDR team to handle their most high-stakes and complex disputes, wherever they arise. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team of collaborative lawyers who are passionate about their work. We foster an environment where associates are encouraged to pursue growth opportunities and take ownership of significant matters for global clients, all while benefitting from a supportive and collaborative culture. With over 700 litigators worldwide, we offer exceptional depth when it comes to meeting our clients’ needs and developing the next generation of leaders.
Our office operates in the spirit of our local Vancouver roots, valuing close connections with our colleagues and fostering a team-oriented atmosphere where mentoring and innovation is a priority. Within the LDR group, we believe this culture offers the best of both worlds: the close-knit environment of a boutique litigation firm combined with the resources and infrastructure of a global platform.
Your Role
We seek entrepreneurial and collaborative litigators with at least 4 years of experience in commercial litigation to join our LDR team. The successful candidate will have mastered the art of junioring and be able to demonstrate the practice management and substantive legal skills necessary to take a lead role on significant matters. This includes an ability to think analytically, creatively and practically, the desire to learn from leading practitioners and an appetite and aptitude for facing challenges. An interest in learning the skills to develop and run one’s own practice with guidance and support is essential.
We are looking for candidates with a keen interest in commercial litigation and who excel in a team environment while also demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work independently. Experience with complex commercial litigation including shareholder disputes, oppression proceedings, plans of arrangement, contested transactions, securities litigation and contractual disputes will be considered an asset.
