We invite applications for the position of:
School: Riverside College
Position: Plumbing Foundation Level 1 Instructor
FTE: 1.0
Grade: 12 and graduated students
Status: Temporary
Start Date: Sep. 1, 2026
This teaching assignment may involve hours outside the regular school day. Some weekend hours may be required.
Qualifications:
· A valid BC teaching certificate or ability to meet the requirement of the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch
· Plumber – Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal endorsement
· Minimum “B’ Level Gas Certification
· Minimum 5 years working/experience in the industry as plumber journeyperson after Red Seal Certification
· Current knowledge of SkilledTradesBC Plumber Foundation program requirements and related curriculum knowledge
· Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a self-paced, multi- disciplined environment.
· Recent successful teaching experience as an Instructor in a SkilledTradesBC Plumber Foundation program or related field
· Experience as an instructor working with youth and adults
· Learning assistance experience is an asset
· Knowledge of industry related resources and community resources
· Possess current knowledge of, and involvement with, industry trends
· Knowledge of WorksafeBC Policy and Procedures
· Knowledge of best business practice
· Recent successful experience placing students into industry related work experience/job placements
· Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a self-paced, multi- disciplined environment
· Familiarity with the CSTS Training System would be an asset
· Knowledge of on-line learning platforms (ex: Zoom, MS Teams, Scholantis)
· A valid BC driver's license and vehicle to drive to alternate sites as needed, a driver's abstract to be provided annually
General Duties:
· To provide classroom instruction to youth and adults in a SkilledTradesBC Plumber Foundation program
· Implement SkilledTradesBC course outlines and requirements and develop related curriculum and course work for program delivery
· To teach employability skills as they relate to the Plumbing/Piping industry
· To liaise and collaborate with SkilledTradesBC and/or post-secondary training partners in the implementation of the program
· To facilitate student success and course/program completion
· To identify suitable student Work Study placements and follow School District Work Study guidelines and practices for student Work Study
· Oversee the Work Study Program at various locations throughout the Lower Mainland
· To serve as the teacher advisor and mentor for students in the assigned program
· To conduct regular on-going assessment of student progress leading to a formal evaluation/letter grade in accordance with the reporting requirements of the Ministry of Education and SkilledTradesBC
· To provide regular, on-going reporting of student attendance and progress
· To arrange for formal industry related testing as appropriate, including the SkilledTradesBC final exam
· To assist students outside one’s teaching assignment as requested and where appropriate
· To liaise with industry contacts at both the regional and provincial levels
· To assist students in finding industry related work experience and job placements

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $61, 502-$112,806, with placement on the range based on length of service, FTE and qualifications in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
