About the role
Position Title: Social Media Coordinator - Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ)
Location: 245 Fairview Mall Drive, Unit 201, North York
Hours: Full-time, In- person,
Classification: Temporary (8 weeks)
Start Date: June 1, 2026
Pay Rate per hour: $17.60
Number of Openings: 1
Reports to: Manager, Marketing and Communications

Position Summary:
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Social Media Coordinator to manage and grow our social media presence across various platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about digital storytelling, skilled in engaging online communities, and has a track record of creating compelling content that drives awareness, engagement, and action.
Eligibility Criteria:
Employees must be between 15-30 years, either be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students and work permit holders are ineligible for the program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation and Strategy
- Develop and execute a social media content calendar that aligns with organizational goals and campaigns.
- Create engaging, original content including posts, stories, graphics, videos, and reels for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather content and ensure messaging aligns with branding and communication goals.
- Community Management
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions promptly to foster an engaged online community.
- Build and maintain relationships with followers, influencers, and stakeholders on social media platforms.
- Identify and engage with trending topics or conversations relevant to the organization’s mission.
- Analytics and Reporting
- Track and analyze key performance metrics (e.g., reach, engagement, clicks, conversions) and provide regular reports.
- Use insights from analytics to optimize content and social media strategy.
- Stay updated on platform changes, trends, and best practices to ensure cutting-edge approaches.
- Campaign Support
- Assist with digital marketing campaigns, including paid social media advertising and collaborations.
- Coordinate social media efforts with other marketing initiatives such as email
- campaigns, events, or press releases.
- Ensure brand consistency across all social media platforms.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or
- a related field.
- Proven experience (1-2 years) managing social media accounts, preferably for
- non-profits or community-focused organizations.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn,
- TikTok, etc.) and related tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later).
- Strong knowledge of graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe
- Creative Suite, or CapCut).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail.
- Creativity and a strong understanding of current digital trends.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite).
Additional Assets:
- Experience with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices.

Newcomer Women’s Services was founded by a group of Latin American refugees in 1983. For the past 41 years, we’ve been helping immigrants from all around the world to become a part of the wider community.
