##Qualifications
ISSP REQUIREMENTS:
-
Must be Indigenous (First Nation, Inuit, Metis).
-
Must be registered at the University of Manitoba as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in both terms (Fall 2025 and Winter 2026). Students must have a minimum 60% course load (at least 9 credit hours per term for undergraduate students).
EDUCATION:
-
Completed undergraduate degree in Indigenous Studies, Creative Writing, Performance Arts, Peace and Conflict Studies, Gender Studies, or a related field.

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree and are currently pursuing graduate studies.

Consideration will also be given to undergraduate students who demonstrate suitable qualifications, lived experience, cultural knowledge, and/or training in storytelling, narrative methods, arts‑based research, or Indigenous Knowledge.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with storytelling, creative writing, performance, or arts-based project, whether through coursework, community involvement or personal practice.
- Familiarity with qualitative research including interviews, story gathering and storytelling is beneficial.
- Experience supporting cultural gatherings or creative workshops.
- Experience in Indigenous storytelling is an asset.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Comfortable working with stories, symbolism & creative approaches.
- Clear, effective writing & speaking ability across academic, community, & creative settings.
- Able to manage tasks, timelines effectively.
- Open to guidance, responsive to feedback, and able to adapt quickly.
- Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, respect and accountability.
##Key responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Assist with story-gathering and creative project activities. Support scheduling, communications, and event coordination. Help organize qualitative and narrative materials. Prepare summaries, notes, transcripts, or creative content. Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas.
