Position Overview
The President of Northerm Windows & Doors reports to the Board of Directors and provides executive leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the company’s operations in Yukon and Alaska. This role carries full accountability for corporate performance, including strategic planning, operational execution, financial results, and organizational development.
As the senior executive, the President is responsible for ensuring Northerm and its subsidiary, Capitol Glass (Anchorage, Alaska), operate efficiently, safely, and profitably in alignment with the company’s mission, values, and the interests of its Indigenous shareholders. The President will work closely with the Board to set strategic direction and ensure sustainable growth, operational excellence, and strong governance across both entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Governance

Lead the development and execution of the company’s long-term strategic plan and annual business plans.

Ensure alignment of operations and decision-making with the objectives and values of Northerm’s First Nation shareholders.

Provide timely and accurate reporting to the Board, including operational performance, financial results, and strategic initiatives.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and ethical leadership throughout the organization.
- Financial Performance & Risk Management

Oversee full P&L accountability for Northerm Windows & Doors and Capitol Glass.

Ensure the company meets or exceeds its revenue and EBITDA targets.

Manage operating budgets, capital investments, and financial forecasting in collaboration with the Director of Finance.

Identify and mitigate business, operational, and financial risks.

Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, and regulatory requirements in both Canada and the U.S.
- Operational Excellence

Provide executive oversight for manufacturing, sales, distribution, and service operations across all business lines.

Drive operational efficiency, quality improvement, and customer satisfaction initiatives.

Support and empower the leadership team in achieving divisional objectives.

Promote workplace safety, quality, and efficiency through modern systems and process improvements.

Strengthen Northerm’s market position in residential, commercial, and institutional glazing and window systems.

Serve as a visible and credible ambassador for Northerm and its shareholders in Yukon, Alaska, and beyond.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 10 years of senior leadership experience, including full P&L accountability, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or building products environment.

Demonstrated success leading multi-site or cross-border operations.

Proven ability to work effectively with Boards of Directors.

Exceptional financial acumen, strategic thinking, and operational management skills.

Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building abilities.

Working Conditions

Based in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Regular travel between Northerm operations in Whitehorse and Capitol Glass in Anchorage, Alaska (must be legally eligible to enter the United States).

Occasional travel to fenestration industry events and meetings with suppliers in Canada and the United States.
