Responsibilities The role of Forestry Assistant is to:
Take Part In Two Main Field Projects
- Pre-harvest Forest Investigation (PHFI) and Forest Renewal Assessment (FRA)
- Collect accurate data using survey equipment, measuring tools and electronic devices
- Provide technical and administrative support to the planning and silviculture groups
- Practice safe work and meet Workplace Safety & Health standards
- Work with the team or individually depending on the given task
- Maintain and properly care for all gear and electronics
- Take part in other field projects if necessary
- Successful candidate should be reliable and willing to learn new technical skills
- Interest to learn about forest management and the natural environment is welcome
- The Company provides work boots allowance and all the personal protective equipment
Qualifications
- Able and willing to work outdoors: all weather conditions, remote locations, camp settings
- General knowledge of mobile devices, computers and GPS navigation
- Commitment to safety and protection of the environment
- 18 years of age or older
Strong Points
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions
- Experience with riding ATVs, driving on forestry roads, or towing trailers
- Education or related natural resources work experience
- Experience similar to the role of Forestry Assistant
