Introducing the National Arts Centre he National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada’s bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams – the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety – and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. Key activities: The NAC is looking to fill 2 positions within the IM/IT department, one within the Enterprise Systems team and another within the Cybersecurity team. Reporting to the Directors of Enterprise Systems and Cybersecurity respectively, the Senior IM/IT Advisors lead the design, modernization, and reliable operation of the NAC’s IT infrastructure, carrying out the development, implementation, integration, and maintenance of server and cloud services; connectivity between local and remote sites; IT asset lifecycle management; service management; application and infrastructure integrity; capacity and performance planning; and the rollout of enterprise software and cloud-based systems and services. Core responsibilities shared across both streams:
Operations & Service Delivery • Oversees the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of all infrastructure services; • Drives proactive operations monitoring, performance optimization, and issue resolution; • Develops and maintains technical standards, operating procedures, and documentation; • Designs, configures and administers Microsoft 365 services; • Serves as senior technical authority for the acquisition, development, integration, testing, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure services; • Provides senior-level technical oversight and handles escalated or complex technical issues.
Projects & Collaboration • Participates in technology planning and contributes to technical and strategic roadmaps; • Provides expertise for modernization, cloud, and digital transformation initiatives; • Leads or participates in project teams and working groups for infrastructure and/or cybersecurity initiatives; • Chairs and facilitates project-related meetings with sponsors, stakeholders, and vendors; • Works closely with the Directors of Enterprise Systems and Cybersecurity to ensure integration between platforms and security practices; • Consults and negotiates with managers, staff, and suppliers to define requirements and resolve complex technical issues; • Contributes to IT budget estimation, tracking, cost analysis, and business cases for infrastructure investments. Research & Continuous Improvement • Research best practices and trends in cybersecurity and IT infrastructure and facilitate technical solutions; • Conducts research and feasibility studies to support the development, testing, maintenance, and renewal of infrastructure components; • Maintains knowledge of emerging developments and challenges in IT infrastructure and service management.
Additional responsibilities for the Enterprise Systems stream: • Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of the corporate IT infrastructure operations, encompassing Local Area Network, and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) systems, workstations, server and mainframe operations, connectivity, IT asset acquisition and life cycle management, integrity of corporate and client applications, voice/data systems, the roll-out of software, cloud services, technical support, services support and the adherence to service-level agreements; • Designs and develops IT infrastructure frameworks, and develops and recommends large, strategic IT infrastructure improvement initiatives to internal stakeholders; • Provides infrastructure expertise on modernization, cloud, and digital transformation initiatives; • Work with the Director of Enterprise Systems to evaluate and select new enterprise solutions, design system architectures and integrations, and update or refine existing system designs.
Additional responsibilities for the Cybersecurity stream: • Implements cybersecurity program focusing on monitor-detect-and-response operations including security logging and monitoring, advanced threat detection, containment, incident response, and security operations centre (SOC) functions; • Participates in incident response including investigation, impact analysis, resolution, remediation and communications; • Applies NAC’s IT security controls to ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards; • Implements risk management program focusing on corporate risk related to IT/digital and cybersecurity; • Monitor and track adherence to information security directives and procedures; • Administration of M365 Security related features and configurations; • Development of security related guidelines as they apply to software, AI and hardware acquisitions.
Required qualifications: • Post-secondary degree (or equivalent) in technology, IM/IT, computing, or a related field; or a combination of education and work experience; • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure and/or cybersecurity; • Minimum 3-years experience in a senior advisory or team lead role; • Extensive experience in the design, deployment, and management of Microsoft 365 environments; • Proven capability in analyzing, designing, integrating and managing enterprise-scale environments in a hybrid cloud environment including comprehensive identity management experience; • Strong background in virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, including infrastructure sizing, high availability planning, and resource optimization; • Demonstrated experience designing and supporting hybrid backup and disaster recovery solutions using Commvault or equivalent platforms; • Expertise in enterprise network architecture, including design and implementation of LAN/WAN infrastructure, routing and switching, network segmentation, VPN solutions, and firewall management; • Industry-recognized certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNP/CCIE, ITIL, or CCSP/CISM/CISSP are strongly preferred. • Knowledge of security frameworks and guidelines such as NIST, ISO 27001, ITSG33 or CIS is required (cybersecurity stream only); • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure infrastructure design, with practical experience implementing controls aligned with security frameworks and best practices (cybersecurity stream only); • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with exceptional service orientation is essential; • Analytical aptitude with an emphasis on investigative, methodical, critical questioning and logical thinking; • Ability to prioritize effectively and accommodate multiple and changing priorities, a heavy workload, tight deadlines and competing demands from stakeholders; • Bilingualism in both official languages is required (English/French intermediate level); • Experience working in public sector or performing arts organizations is an asset.
