Time Commitment: Full time
Starting Annual Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 CAN subject to skills and experience

About the role
The Institute of Health Economics is recruiting an experienced Health Economist / Modeler to contribute on projects in our diverse program of government and industry facing work. The successful candidate will be hands-on contributing to modelling and/or economic evaluations across a wide range of topics and technologies. The candidate will also be involved in the ongoing development of new work by contributing to or leading proposal development, and, subject to experience, will have opportunities to lead projects.
Subject to skills, experience, and project demands, the work may include:
· Economic evaluations of interventions
· Infectious disease and vaccine modelling and economics
· Pre-market, early economic evaluations of non-drug technologies
· Health technology assessment
· Quantitative analysis of health system performance
· Health-focused real world evidence analysis
This is an opportunity to be part of a unique research program producing evidence to support decision making. The candidate will be supported by a strong multi-disciplinary team including economists, mathematical modelers, and evidence synthesis specialists.
The ideal candidate will have strong familiarity and experience both with data methods (econometrics) as well as building mathematical models (for example, Markov models). Candidates with strengths in one of those domains will be considered subject to the applicant pool.
Roles and Responsibilities
· Design and conduct quantitative studies and economic evaluations
· Analyze and interpret data and model results for presentation to a range of stakeholders
· Report results in presentations, written reports, journal manuscripts or in other formats as required
· Manage projects, timelines, budgets and project teams
· Manage key stakeholder relationships, and liaise with stakeholders
· Contribute to business development through writing proposals for existing and new project sponsors and grant opportunities
· Contribute to the work within the health economics team to advance the team’s work
Qualifications and experience
· Graduate degree in health economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field
· Minimum of 3 years post-degree experience working in an analytical role in health economics, statistics, health systems research and modeling, decision-analytic modeling, simulation, or optimization
· Experience with R or packages such as STATA, SAS, or MATLAB
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong inter-personal skills
· Evidence of successful work in a multidisciplinary environment
· Problem solving skills
· Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
· Potential to mentor and coach junior staff
· Experience with health technology assessment, data science, or economic evaluations
· Knowledge of Canadian health care systems and data is an asset
· Preference for Canadian resident with the right to work in Canada
