About the role

Our partner, a major international company in the agri-food sector experiencing strong growth in Canada, is looking for a Human Resources Director for its production site located in Sorel-Tracy. Reporting to the VP of Human Resources based at the head office, the selected candidate will play a key role in deploying local organizational strategies while embodying the company’s values on the ground.

Tasks
- Act as a strategic partner to local management to support business initiatives with aligned, effective, and responsible HR practices.
- Promote and embed the company culture by supporting managers and teams in their day-to-day operations.
- Ensure smooth labor relations in a unionized environment and represent the employer in various labor relations committees.
- Support managers in interpreting and applying the collective agreement, particularly in grievance management.
- Lead talent management activities: staffing, engagement, skills development, performance, and succession planning.
- Oversee the local implementation of corporate HR programs and policies.
- Measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives using key performance indicators (KPIs) and suggest adjustments to optimize results.
- Develop internal communication strategies to strengthen employee engagement.
- Design and implement training plans to support the professional growth of plant employees.
- Be actively present on the ground to stay connected with teams, understand their challenges, and adjust practices accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and occupational health and safety regulations.
- Actively participate in the plant’s management committee.
- Perform any other related duties and manage projects as requested.

Job requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in human resources management, including at least 5 years in a unionized industrial environment in Quebec.
- Excellent knowledge of labor relations and employment standards legislation.
- Ability to work at both strategic and operational levels.
- Experience in implementing HR programs and managing change.
- Excellent communication skills in French, both spoken and written.
- Good ability to communicate in English in a professional context with international colleagues and partners.
- Collaborative leadership style focused on results, active listening, and positive influence.
- CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation is a strong asset.
