About the role
Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.
Position Summary
The Junior Project Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial and administrative duties related to the billing and costing of multiple projects. This role provides essential support to the project team by assisting in cost forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Review subcontractor daily tickets and LEMs, and compile them for client approvals.
- Provide support in the preparation and maintenance of project documents and reporting.
- Assist in the completion of project progress and cost reports, including budgets, change orders, and incurred costs.
- Help reconcile actual costs against the project forecast and budget.
- Prepare project accruals and assist with client invoicing.
- Review project requisitions to verify cost coding, descriptions, estimated costs, and back-up documentation.
- Assist in overseeing the completion of the change management procedure and log.
- Create project cost codes as requested by the project team.
- Enter submitted journal entries and reclasses, and verify all required documentation is included.
- Perform various other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in a related field such as Construction Engineering Technology (C.E.T.) or business/accounting is preferred. An Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) designation is also suitable.
- 1–3 years of experience in a similar role would be considered an asset.
- Applicable education may be considered in place of experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of project controls and accounting principles is an asset.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
