About the role
Job Summary
Bringing the Library’s strategic plan to life, the Liaison, Programs and Partnerships assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective and efficient library learning opportunities and programming. The Liaison, Programs and Partnerships works closely with Library partners on identifying, promoting and delivering programs of interest, and acts to build, maintain and enhance Library partnerships.
Reflecting the Library’s commitment to continuous improvement, in the name of meeting the community’s ever-evolving needs and expectations, the Liaison, Programs and Partnerships contributes positively to change, working collaboratively and constructively in a dynamic team environment, in which learning happens every day.
Responsibilities and Activities
The Liaison, Programs and Partnerships contributes to the success of the Library and its impact in the community by participating in a wide range of responsibilities and activities.

Engage with Users
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates innovative, responsive and cost-effective system-wide learning opportunities and programs that are externally-led, partner-led and / or volunteer-led
- Acts as an advocate internally and externally to increase awareness and understanding of the Library’s role in community learning
- responding to inquiries regarding programs, partnerships, events and activities
- coordinating activities, room bookings, outreach, and programs conducted by presenters including partners and vendors
- communicating, coordinating and scheduling internal staff hosts, producers, and facilitators

Shape a Positive User Experience
- Produces a wide variety of written communications to support library programming
- Participates actively in activities which support and enhance the accomplishment of system goals and objectives, as assigned
- supports program evaluation, funding requests, report writing, statistical compilation and analysis, as assigned
- supports system program selection and scheduling, contributing to monthly reporting, and collecting data on library activities

Creating a Welcoming Environment
- initiates and maintains contact with outside agencies to build bridges, partnerships, and to promote the use of library programs and services;
- working positively and productively with other staff and represents the Library well to volunteers, partners and vendors and at Library events
- being knowledgeable and answering inquiries about Library programs, services, and policies, referring as appropriate
- keeps abreast of relevant external developments through environmental scanning;

Facilitate Capacity Development
- supporting Library staff to ensure the highest quality volunteer and partnership programs and events for Library members
- trains and supervises staff, as assigned;
- troubleshooting technical issues and communicating with internal departments, as required in a Library online or in-person setting
- maintaining the Online Program calendar and reports spreadsheet, and entering program and event information into SWI and creating online links (e.g. Zoom and MS Teams), as required

Apply Operational Procedures
- applying best practices and following all applicable policies, procedures, and legislation
- adhering to all required health and safety precautions and guidelines
- participating in emergency response procedures and workplace inspections
- reporting physical safety and security issues as appropriate
Qualifications

Completion of:
- a university bachelor’s level degree in a related field and three (3) years directly-related programming experience preferred
- equivalent combination of less education and directly related experience may also be considered

Pre-Employment Screening Requirements:
- Successfully complete specified technology use tests
- Valid Driver’s license and insurability under the Library’s insurance program may be required based on operational needs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, volunteers, partners, and vendors
- Intermediate technological literacy skills (as defined by Human Resources)
- Experience using MS Teams and Zoom to deliver online programming is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to problem-solve and use good judgment
- A strong sense of urgency – works quickly, meets deadline, and collaborates with team
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Participate actively in initiatives which support and enhance the accomplishment of system goals and objectives.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with people from all backgrounds, abilities, and age groups

Additional Information
Working Conditions:
- Working in a public library setting and in offsite locations with members of the public of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities
- Contributes to a team/collaborative environment
- Cognitive demands associated with simultaneous and multiple priorities, multi-tasking, and a dynamic work environment
- Physical demands associated with using a computer for long periods of time
- Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional walking or standing for brief periods of time
- Position is classified as light level work exerting up to 5kgs (11lbs) of force
- Ability to work a variety of shifts – including occasional evenings and weekends
