About the role
Are you a puzzle-solver who looks at a bustling warehouse and immediately sees a more efficient way to route the flow? As an Industrial Engineer, you will be the chief architect of our warehouse physical layouts and operational workflows. Operating within a fast-paced Third-Party Logistics (3PL) environment, you will bridge the gap between AutoCAD design and floor execution. Your primary mission is to design high-efficiency warehouse floor plans, map out seamless processes, and relentlessly eliminate operational bottlenecks to maximize throughput, safety, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Floor & Layout Design: * Design and continuously optimize multi-client warehouse floor plans, slotting strategies, and rack configurations (selective, push-back, VNA, etc.) using AutoCAD or similar design software. Develop and scale physical footprints to accommodate new client implementations and changing seasonal inventory profiles.
Process Engineering & Bottleneck Elimination
Conduct time-motion studies, value stream mapping (VSM), and capacity analysis to identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks in receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping. Implement Lean Warehousing principles (5S, Kaizen, Gemba) to reduce waste and optimize labor utilization.
Data Analysis & Simulation
Analyze SKU velocity, order profiles, and historical data to design optimal product slotting strategies. Use data to justify capital expenditure (CapEx) for automation, material handling equipment (MHE), or racking modifications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with General Managers, Operations Supervisors, and the Account Management team to implement layout changes with minimal disruption to daily operations. Standardize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for newly engineered processes.
Required Qualifications
Criteria Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related technical field.
Experience
3–5 years of experience in process engineering, layout design, or continuous improvement, ideally within a 3PL or multi-client warehouse environment.
Technical Skills
Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D), warehouse simulation software, and advanced MS Excel. Familiarity with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and LMS (Labor Management Systems).
Methodologies
Strong working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Value Stream Mapping (Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt is a major plus).
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Analytical Mindset: You don't just find problems; you bring data-backed, cost-justified solutions. Change Management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to get buy-in from both the executive suite and the associates on the warehouse floor. Agility: Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, high-turnover environment. Safety First: A deep understanding of OSHA regulations, building codes, and fire-safety compliance related to rack storage.
