About the role
Sherwood Steel began as a family business in 1972. Starting as small steel fabricators and eventually growing to have provided materials for condo projects, schools, housing developments, and more for many years. Position Summary
Production Worker is a key function for organizational success at Sherwood Steel Ltd. Some of the key functions include; ensuring the proper set up, operations and maintenance of rebar cutting and bending, read and interpret production orders and perform quality inspections using measuring tools. Other responsibilities include:
- Monitor machine operation, making necessary adjustments to ensure precision and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate production records, documenting completed work and any machine adjustments.
- Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on machines to minimize downtime.
- Follow safety protocols, ensuring a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Identify and pick rebar from the warehouse to fill orders.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area and equipment used
- Any additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent combined with prior experience in manufacturing, construction or metal fabrication setting.
- Previous experience operating rebar bending, cutting, or shearing equipment is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to measure accurately.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials and standing for long periods, ability to lift 23 kgs (50 lbs)
- Commitment to workplace safety, keeping work area clean and tidy
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings would be an asset
- Preference given to those with experience in the construction, manufacturing, or steel fabrication industry
