About the role
Acuren is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Senior Accountant to join our Canadian team. This role plays a key part in managing the full spectrum of accounting functions across multiple corporate entities, with emphasis on accurate financial reporting, process optimization, and enhancing operational efficiency.
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Responsibilities
- Ensuring that accounting practices are in conformance with US GAAP
- Posting journal entries and month end close reconciliations for CA operations
- Process monthly sales and use tax return filing, occupational and business license filing
- Research sales and use tax regulations to ensure the company is in compliance with current standards and assist with audits when necessary
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for CA operations
- Responsible for recording and reconciling Global Fixed Assets by tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of assets
- Gather information from the field to put together CAD/US card journal entry and reconcile to monthly activity
- Allocate various consolidated vendor invoices to the proper departments
- Assist with the annual external audit
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial data and reporting
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial processes, systems, and internal controls
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance
Requirements EDUCATION:
- University or post-secondary degree or diploma with a focus in Accounting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
- Resourceful with strong analytical abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of accounting systems; experience with SAGE is a plus
- Detail-oriented
