About the role
The Human Resources Assistant provides reliable administrative and coordination support to the Human Resources Department within a unionized healthcare environment. This entry-level role is well suited to a highly organized individual with strong administrative and communication skills who is interested in developing a career in Human Resources. The position supports day-to-day HR operations and serves as an initial point of contact for employees, requiring professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
HR Administration & Records Management
- Organize, compile, maintain, and update employee records in both electronic and hard-copy formats
- Accurately process HR documentation related to recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and employee status changes
- Maintain data integrity within the HRIS, including personnel files, training records, safety documentation, and compliance tracking
- Support filing standards, document control, and record retention requirements in a healthcare setting
Employee communications and support
- Act as the first point of contact for routine HR inquiries, providing general information or directing staff to appropriate HR team members
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with employees and internal stakeholders
- Schedule meetings, interviews, and HR-related appointments
- This role will pay between 25 and 30 dollars per hour based on experience
Require Qualifications
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Management, Human Resources, Criminology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated administrative experience
- Strong administrative skills demonstrated through previous work, or practicum
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
- Experience in a unionized healthcare or community services environment is an asset
- Familiarity with collective agreements is an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Working knowledge of an HRIS and/or Learning Management System (LMS) is an asset
- Ability to clear a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector screening
- The wage for this role will be between 25 to 30 dollars per hour based on a 35 hour work week.
