About the role
Directly responsible to the Fabrication Supervisor. Functionally responsible for the production and quality of fabricated parts as per fabrication drawings. Communicate with all plant production personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Machine Set-up Operator are detailed below, but not limited to the following:
- Set-up and operate all machines in the Fabrication Department in an effective and cost-efficient manner while maintaining good quality and safety standards.
- Check samples periodically and ensure they match first-piece sample check.
- Ensure first piece sample is double checked by other plant personnel.
- Ensure material is identified for shape number, work order number and quantity. If material is being used from stock, have stock number identified on work order.
- Ensure material is checked for proper cut length before fabrication using appropriate tools.
- Responsible for reporting equipment malfunction directly with the supervisors and maintenance personnel.
- Ensure lines are set up on time with focus on schedule adherence.
- Comply with all quality related policies, procedures, and system requirements.
- All other activities as assigned including operating any machines in the Fabrication Department.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience setting up a variety of fabrication machines (Break presses, Punch presses, saws, bending machines etc.)
- Grade 12 with some mechanical aptitude/ machine operator/set-up experience.
Technical Skills/Competence
- Must be capable of using measuring instruments.
- Must have working knowledge of machinery and ability to read drawings.
- Competent in basic mathematics

The expected pay range for this position is $20.15 - $23.79 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs.
