About the role
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment within the power electronics industry. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, and the ability to drive efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards. This is a hands-on, working supervisor role — while leading the team, the Production Supervisor must also be willing and able to jump in on the production floor when needed to help meet quotas, balance workloads, and support operators. The Production Supervisor will work closely with engineering, quality, planning, and operations teams to ensure production goals are met on time and within budget. This role may require overtime depending on production demand.

Team Leadership & Supervision
-
Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of production operators and lead hands.
-
Conduct regular employee performance evaluations to assess skills, set goals, and provide feedback for growth and development.

-
Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
-
Conduct daily team huddles to align priorities, communicate updates, and resolve issues.
-
Manage employee discipline when necessary, ensuring fairness, consistency, and alignment with company policy.
Production Planning & Scheduling
-
Collaborate closely with the Production Planner to implement production quotas and daily workload balancing.
-
Manage daily/weekly production schedules to meet customer deadlines.
-
Prioritize workloads in a low-volume, high-mix environment with frequent changeovers.
-
Monitor progress against timelines and adjust resources as needed.
Process & Continuous Improvement
-
Implement and sustain 5S workplace organization practices.
-
Support Six Sigma and Lean initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize processes.
-
Identify bottlenecks and lead root cause analysis for production issues.
Quality & Compliance
-
Ensure all products meet customer and industry standards.
-
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to resolve non-conformances.
-
Support audits and inspections.
Systems & Reporting
-
Use ERP/MRP and computer systems for scheduling, tracking, and reporting production data.
-
Maintain accurate production records, including yields, scrap, and downtime.
-
Prepare reports on performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Safety & Training
-
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
-
Serve as a WHMIS Trainer, ensuring employees are trained, refreshed, and compliant with Regulation 860 and site-specific procedures.
-
Train and cross-train employees in production processes and best practices.
-
Ensure all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company standards are followed.
