We are currently seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team.
About The Role As an Accounting Specialist , you will be responsible for supporting the finance team by managing consultants’ daily time and expense activities used for payroll and client billing purposes. This position reports to the controller within Business Operations Support. This position is accountable for verifying timekeeping records in the ERP system, entering and reconciling subcontractor accounts, and approving expense reports from an accounting perspective.
Work Location: Markham, Ontario. Currently Hybrid (3/2 days in office/home).
Position Type: Hourly, Full-time
Starting Compensation: $35 per hour (approx. $72,000 per annum)

What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensuring consultants timesheets and expense reports in Netsuite are accurate for payroll and client billings/invoices. This will be done through audits, reconciliations and follow up with field staff and management;
- Educating field staff on how to resolve their discrepancies within the NetSuite System;
- Producing internal reports on time entries and expense reports.
- Suggesting process improvement where gaps are identified;
- Performing accounts payable functions for designated accounts;
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the Finance Team that may include invoicing and AR.
What You Need For Success
- Certificate or Diploma in accounting and/or 4 to 5 years’ experience in a high-volume construction or transportation industry within accounting;
- Experience working in a high-volume accounting function with attention to detail is a must;
- Experience approving / processing time sheets, expense reports and AP is a plus;
- Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite is an asset;
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office with Excel skills at an intermediate to advanced level;
- High level of proficiency with communicating and resolving discrepancies both verbally and in writing while maintaining a professional demeanor;
- Excellent at managing expectations, shows initiative and can multitask;
- High-level of interpersonal skills and working in a team environment;
