We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Fixed Plant Engineering team in Toronto, Ontario. This role will support the design, development, customization and continuous improvement of mining equipment and wear products used across North American mining operations. ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to the design and development of Fixed Plant products including wear liner packages, chutes, hoppers, transfer points and related mining equipment. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales and operations teams to deliver practical engineering solutions from concept through to manufacture and field implementation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Create and maintain 3D models, detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation. * Design and modify wear products and Fixed Plant equipment for mining applications. * Perform reverse engineering activities using field measurements and 3D scan data. * Conduct engineering analysis and design validation using appropriate simulation tools. * Support product development, product improvement and customer-specific engineering projects. * Participate in mine site visits and equipment inspections to gather field information and validate designs. * Maintain engineering records, Bills of Materials and design changes within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. * Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales and Customer Support teams to ensure manufacturability and product performance. * Support continuous improvement, quality and safety initiatives across engineering activities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate: * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. * Minimum two years of experience in mechanical design, product development, reliability engineering or related engineering disciplines. * Experience designing manufactured products within mining, heavy industrial, materials handling, construction equipment or similar industries. * Demonstrated proficiency using Siemens NX for 3D modelling and engineering drafting. * Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, preferably Siemens Teamcenter. * Experience performing reverse engineering activities using site measurements and/or 3D scan data. * Experience preparing manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials and engineering change documentation. * Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and manufacturing processes. * Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to customer and manufacturing sites within North America. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following: * Fixed Plant mining equipment. * Chute, hopper, conveyor or wear liner design. * 3D scanning technologies and point-cloud processing. * FARO laser scanning equipment. * Polyworks, Geomagic or similar scan-processing platforms. * ANSYS or equivalent engineering analysis software. * Surface mining operations and maintenance environments. * ISO 9001 quality management systems. * Spanish language capability. * French language capability. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This role is primarily office-based at our location in 90 Richmond St E Suite 400, Toronto, Ontario M5C 1P1 Canada, with periodic travel to mine sites and manufacturing facilities. Travel is expected to be approximately 10-20% of working time.
