About Mount Milligan Mine Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant. Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site. About The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Metallurgist to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site. In this role, you will provide technical support and leadership to the mill operations group, focusing on optimizing plant performance and ensuring safety standards are met. This role operates on a rotation of 14 days on / 14 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided. Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To Focusing on safety, including ensuring corporate and site policies are followed, actively participating in safety and tool meetings, and ensuring quality work standards and site and departmental procedures are being adhered to Monitoring and reporting on concentrator performance Identifying sources of variability and making recommendations for improvements to increase plant stability and efficiency Conducting investigations, test work, and technical projects Identifying opportunities to exceed plant targets and communicate recommendations to Mill Operations team after review from Senior Metallurgist Preparing reports and communicate results to Mill Operations team after review from Senior Metallurgist Participating in equipment inspections and making recommendations on service life Running small to medium-sized projects without significant supervision Communicate thoroughly with team members and providing guidance when necessary About You The following will be critical to successfully perform this role: Post-Secondary education in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar technical fields of study, and be a Registered member of EGBC, or qualified to register. You also need to have 2 - 6 years of experience in mineral processing, preferably with comminution and copper/gold flotation experience Strong statistical analysis, presentation, and technical report writing skills A valid Class 5 driver’s license Demonstrated ability to work safely Strong understanding of major assets in the copper/gold milling process Effective communication, organizational, and team-building skills Proven ability to analyze problems, prioritize issues, and develop timely and cost-effective solutions Physically fit and able to lift 50lbs of weight Working Conditions Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 14x14, 12 hours per day. Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration. Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie.
