Every day, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members rely on strong operational and administrative support to serve communities across the province. Behind the scenes, Bureau Financial Coordinators play an important role in helping managers track budgets, monitor spending, coordinate procurement activities, and ensure financial information is accurate and up to date.
We are seeking organized, detail-oriented professionals with a background in financial administration. You will work closely with managers and staff to support financial reporting, forecasting, procurement, and records management. You will help ensure financial and human resources are tracked effectively, policies and procedures are followed, and leadership has the information needed to make sound business decisions.
Note
The successful candidate will be expected to work in Orillia, five (5) days a week.
The results of this Talent Pool will be used to fill future permanent and temporary opportunities in various Bureaus within the OPP, located in Orillia.

About the job
In this role, you will
- Provide financial, analytical and administrative support services to the bureau in the areas of controllership, fiscal and risk management, forecasting, financial planning, workforce analytics, and procurement.
- Administer consolidated financial reports for multiple program areas, to accurately record, monitor and forecast operating and capital expenditures.
- Develop bureau procurement plans in conjunction with bureau managers.
- Prepare month-end and fiscal year-end reporting, in conjunction with controllership and program area management, within established deadlines.
- Provide policies and guideline details to management and other staff for travel claims, procurement processes and various other financial and administrative policies as required.

Mandatory requirements
- Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.
Financial Management and Accounting Experience
- You have demonstrated knowledge of financial and business best practices and the skills to comply with internal controls, analyze variances, develop forecasts and provide recommendations for improvements to existing methods and procedures.
- Ability to research, interpret and apply relevant policies and procedures related to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury Board Secretariat.
Financial Analysis and Planning Skills
- You can interpret analytical and financial planning and reporting information and apply best practices, evaluate review techniques, utilize computer tools, provide quality assurance to support modern controllership.
- You understand and can use various computer software applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, and Excel) to prepare, update and maintain financial data and information, produce financial spreadsheets and graphs, prepare correspondence, reports, etc.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills
- You can communicate with staff at all levels including internal and external partners.
- You have oral communication skills to present analyses, estimates and forecasts to make recommendations regarding options and strategies for bureau management.
- You have written communication skills to prepare correspondence, reports, and other materials.
Organizational Skills
- You have organizational and analytical skills to determine objectives and priorities, and to plan, direct and coordinate various projects within established timeframes.
- You have mathematical skills to create and troubleshoot complex mathematical formulae and perform detailed calculations.
