About the Opportunity:

As a Senior Statistician I, you’ll apply your expertise to plan, analyze, and interpret data from clinical and preclinical studies. You’ll develop statistical analysis plans, perform robust modeling and simulation, and communicate findings that support business and regulatory decisions. You’ll work closely with a talented team, contribute to process improvements, and help enhance the quality and impact of our work across AstraZeneca.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide independent statistical support for standard study design and data interpretation.
  • Design and analyze complex studies with guidance, contributing to projects such as preclinical research, regulatory submissions, and commercialization activities.
  • Evaluate internal and external data to inform study design decisions and develop decision criteria.
  • Apply modeling and simulation techniques to study planning and result assessment.
  • Create statistical analysis plans for studies and projects.
  • Generate analysis outputs, including visuals and tables, for standard studies.
  • Effectively interpret, summarize, and communicate study results.
  • Contribute to methodology improvements and offer practical solutions to statistical challenges.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods to improve process efficiency and delivery.
  • Participate in developing best practices that elevate quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Ensure the accuracy and excellence of statistical work, providing subject matter expertise and constructive feedback.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Statistics, Mathematics with a strong statistical component, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming, with hands-on experience using SAS and R.
  • Solid understanding of technical and regulatory frameworks relevant to pharmaceutical studies.
  • Proven track record in designing, analyzing, and reporting on preclinical or clinical studies across multiple contexts.
  • Strong ability to apply statistical expertise to solve problems, with a continuous focus on quality and process improvement.
  • Skilled communicator, adept at presenting complex data and collaborating across functions.
  • Effective team player with a collaborative mindset, thriving in multidisciplinary environments.
