About the role

Job description:

Our Automation & Digitalization division seeks a Senior Engineer who specializes in the design, development, and implementation of control systems for industrial facilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead control systems projects from inception to completion, ensuring that project goals, timelines, and budgets are met.
    • Design and develop control systems, including hardware and software components, to meet the specific requirements of a project.
    • Develop and implement control algorithms and logic.
    • Integrate control systems with existing or new equipment, machinery, or processes.
    • Test and debug control systems to ensure proper functionality and adherence to specifications. Identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions through systematic troubleshooting and debugging techniques.
    • Prepare technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, budgets, and resourcing, including managing the procurement of necessary equipment and materials.
  • Define project objectives, scope, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders, including identifying opportunities for additional automation and electrification scope within the project.
  • Manage project risks and issues, including developing contingency plans and mitigating strategies, and communicating progress and challenges to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and supply chain, to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams, to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders and senior leadership, including presenting project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and technologists.
  • Assist with the development of proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with ANDRITZ Quality System.
  • Embody, demonstrate, and reinforce the ANDRITZ core values and behaviours.

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering with a focus on automation and electrification technologies.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial engineering; preferably in Pulp & Paper.
  • Consulting engineering experience an asset.
  • Registered as an EIT or P.Eng., or AScT in British Columbia.
  • Strong understanding of automation and electrification technologies, including knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Project management experience an asset.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites.
