Overview

Infiniti Strings is seeking a skilled and passionate Luthier to join our growing team. As a Luthier, you will be responsible for the craftsmanship, repair, and maintenance of stringed instruments across the violin family—including violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of instrument acoustics and construction, and a genuine love for music. You will collaborate with fellow luthiers and sales staff to deliver top-tier quality and service to musicians and students alike.

Duties

• Repair and restore violins, violas, cellos, and double basses to ensure sound quality, structural integrity, and playability.
• Perform professional setups, including shaping/cutting bridges, nuts, and sound posts; fine-tuning and optimizing instrument performance.
• Construct or replace instrument parts using hand tools and machines with precision and craftsmanship.
• Collaborate with musicians, clients, and sales team members to understand and meet performance needs and customization requests.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workshop environment.
• Inspect instruments for repair needs and provide detailed estimates to clients.
• Assist with materials inventory, ordering supplies, and supporting general workshop operations.
• Contribute to hiring processes and participate in team-based decisions and quality assurance.
• Support acquisition efforts by evaluating and preparing new inventory for sale.

Experience

• Graduation from a violin-making or repair program or completion of a formal apprenticeship is required.
• Two years of hands-on experience in instrument repair, setup, or restoration is preferred.
• Experience working with professional musicians is an asset.
• Deep knowledge of wood types, acoustic principles, and structural design of string instruments.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools such as chisels, knives, planes, sanders, bandsaws, and routers.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal communication and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• A passion for music, fine craftsmanship, and attention to detail is essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
