About the role
Overview
Infiniti Strings is seeking a skilled and passionate Luthier to join our growing team. As a Luthier, you will be responsible for the craftsmanship, repair, and maintenance of stringed instruments across the violin family—including violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of instrument acoustics and construction, and a genuine love for music. You will collaborate with fellow luthiers and sales staff to deliver top-tier quality and service to musicians and students alike.
Duties
- Repair and restore violins, violas, cellos, and double basses to ensure sound quality, structural integrity, and playability.
- Perform professional setups, including shaping/cutting bridges, nuts, and sound posts; fine-tuning and optimizing instrument performance.
- Construct or replace instrument parts using hand tools and machines with precision and craftsmanship.
- Collaborate with musicians, clients, and sales team members to understand and meet performance needs and customization requests.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workshop environment.
- Inspect instruments for repair needs and provide detailed estimates to clients.
- Assist with materials inventory, ordering supplies, and supporting general workshop operations.
- Contribute to hiring processes and participate in team-based decisions and quality assurance.
- Support acquisition efforts by evaluating and preparing new inventory for sale.
Experience
- Graduation from a violin-making or repair program or completion of a formal apprenticeship is required.
- Two years of hands-on experience in instrument repair, setup, or restoration is preferred.
- Experience working with professional musicians is an asset.
- Deep knowledge of wood types, acoustic principles, and structural design of string instruments.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools such as chisels, knives, planes, sanders, bandsaws, and routers.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal communication and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- A passion for music, fine craftsmanship, and attention to detail is essential.

Moreover, we have an in-house Luthier on site, who can help clients with their problems and concerns with their instruments. We are driven to help our clients to get the best advice for repair, maintenance, tuning as well as answer any concerns they may have regarding string instruments.
